The White Stripes opened the O2 Wireless festival with one hell of a sticky thump.

The opening night for the O2 Wireless Festival in Leeds was soaking, but with the White Stripes performing - a little bit of rain never hurt anybody...

After the heavens opened and threw the O2 Wireless festival into a near washout the American duo’s headlining set at Harewood House threw Leeds into a thunderous rock party.

A huge performance from Jack and Meg White showed why it was so important to catch them at their only UK festival performance this year. The pair opened with ‘My Doorbell’ from their last album ‘Get Behind Me Satan’ before they shook the grounds with their latest single ‘Icky Thump’. The mandatory, yet massive ‘Seven Nation Army’ saw the site explode into a thudding, bouncing melee of bodies and air guitars.

A blistering set from Queens Of The Stone Age was timed perfectly with the peak of the torrential rain. Josh Homme and his band arrived on stage to perform hits ‘Nobody Knows’, ‘Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret’ before leaving a soaking Leeds with ‘Go With The Flow’.

Other highlights during the day included The Bees who bought a little bout of sunshine early in the day with their blend of funk, reggae and feel-good tunes. Air put in a performance worthy of a mention with their tune ‘Sexy Boy’ a mud squelching success.

Perry Farrell’s new project Satellite Party complete with his dancing wife provided enough action for revellers to forget about the rain as did the Blondie-esque The Sounds who finished with their biggest hit ‘Tony The Beat’.

The White Stripes proved to be a success of the first day with a rampant performance because nobody expects any less anymore. Tomorrow (Saturday) local lad Kaiser Chiefs are joined by Yorkshire band The Pigeon Detectives and The Cribs, while Daft Punk play the Hyde Park leg in London.

Daft Punk close the best ever O2 Wireless festival in style.

As the sun came out Daft Punk produce a fantastic finale to this year’s O2 Wireless.

Daft Punk hammered home the end of a fantastic festival at Harewood House with almost a full day of sunshine (finally). The French duo played for an hour pounding out all of their greatest hits including ‘One More Time’, ‘Da Funk’ and ‘Around The World’.

The pair played out of a giant glowing pyramid which gave the effect that they were floating when darkness fell. They both wore there infamous masks to remain anonymous for at least another year as it was their only UK performance this year.

Their set include tunes from their third album ‘Human After All’ including, ‘Robot Rock, ‘Steam Machine’, ‘Technologic’, ‘Prime Time Of Your Life’, Television Rules The World’ and ‘Brainwasher’.

Earlier on in the day ‘nu rave’ heroes Klaxons played a fantastic headline set on the second stage to a big crowd with the ‘Not Over Yet’ biggest crowd pleaser. Lovefoxxx and CSS were well received with a stunning performance which included her sucking helium, striping down to a multicoloured lycra cat suit before jumping into the crowd to release some bright balloons into the air.

The penultimate act on the main stage was LCD Soundsystem who played their biggest hit and ironic number ‘Daft Punk Are Playing At My House’. Other acts who played at Leeds leg today's O2 Wireless Festival included New Young Pony Club, Simian Mobile Disco, Datarock and Calvin Harris.

Even with the relentless rain most of the weekend the acts and the crowd made this year’s O2 Wireless the best yet, by a long way.

Kaiser Chiefs rock the Saturday at O2 Wireless with some help from a few local lads.

The rain holds off (for a while) as the cream of British indie hit Harewood House for 6…

Kaiser Chiefs performed a spectacularly energetic set prompting sing-a-longs loud enough to deafen half of Yorkshire. The Kaisers’ stormed through mammoth 17 song set list opening with ‘Everyday I Love You Less And Less’.

The band, who are from Leeds, allowed the home crowd to croon all the words to hits, ‘Ruby’, ‘Na Na Na Na Naa’ and ‘I Predict A Riot’ before ending their encore with ‘Oh My God’. The crowd reacted well to a lively performance from frontman Ricky Wilson as he leaped, bounded and star jumped across the stage.

Highlights throughout the second day also included another local band, The Pigeon Detectives, who wowed a wet crowd with singles ‘I’m Not Sorry’ and ‘Romantic Type.’ Wakefield brothers The Cribs ripped the main stage apart with a selection of tunes from their first three albums including their latest helping ‘Man’s Needs’.

Also on the bill and on form were Editors, The Rakes and summery sounding Mumm-Ra. The Twang, Good Shoes and the 1990’s also appeared.

Kaiser Chiefs played:
‘Everyday I Love You Less and Less’
‘Heat Dies Down’
‘Ruby’
‘Learnt My Lesson Well’
‘Na Na Na Na Naa’
‘I Can Do It Without You’
‘Born To Be A Dancer’
‘Modern Way’
‘Everything Is Average Nowadays’
‘Angry Mob’
‘Highroyds’
‘I Predict A Riot’
‘Take My Temperature’
‘Retirement’

‘Try Your Best’
‘Thank You Very Much’
‘Oh My God’

For the final day French duo, Daft Punk, bring their unique electronic sound to Harewood House tomorrow as Kaiser Chiefs drive down the road to headline Hyde Park.
